"Matthews has hit it out of the ballpark with this Little Black Book. This is not your typical 'rah rah' self-help book full of tired clichés. It's a unique, meticulously researched and compelling combination of storytelling, science, and practical tools and takeaways."Hi,I'm Mike and I believe that every person can achieve the body of his or her dreams, and I work hard to give everyone that chance by providing workable, proven advice grounded in science, not a desire to sell phony magazines, workout products, or supplements.Through my work, I've helped thousands of people achieve their health and fitness goals, and I share everything I know in my books. So if you're looking to get in shape and look great, then I think I can help you. I hope you enjoy my books and I'd love to hear from you at my site, muscleforlife.com.Sincerely,Mike
Have you ever gotten into your car after a long day at work, and even though you promised yourself you'd hit the gym, you head straight home for the couch instead?
Have you ever been unable to stop hitting the Snooze button every morning (instead of the gym)?
Have you ever been secretly afraid that you just don't have what it takes to really change your body and life?
Have you ever struggled so much to build a better body and life that you wondered if it's really worth it?
If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, I understand. I've been there myself.
Years ago, I was stuck in a rut in the gym, I was making minimum payments on tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt, and I had no idea where I should go in my life, let alone how to get there.
Today, I'm a "super-fit" bestselling author with over one million books sold, and the owner and founder of several 7- and 8-figure businesses, including Muscle for Life, Legion Athletics, and Oculus Publishers.
(And perhaps more importantly, I also found a unicorn for a wife who has given me two kids who are kinda the coolest.)
How the heck did all that happen?
Did I sell my soul to the Dread Lord Cthulhu? Discover the one weird trick to melting belly fat, debt, and existential angst. . . in just 5 minutes per day? Develop an expensive but highly productive cocaine habit?
Not quite. What really happened is, well, kind of boring:
I read scores of books, worked thousands of hours, and overcame more setbacks than I can count.
In other words, I did the hard stuff that most people don't want to do, and I'm ready to share the biggest lessons I've learned along the way.
And now, while I don't know everything about personal growth, I do know what it takes to develop the skills, habits, and spirit required to transform your body and life.
I also know that anyone can use these powerful strategies to overcome the biggest mental and emotional blocks holding them back from realizing their potential in the same way that I have.
No matter who you are or what difficulties you're facing, you can empower yourself to have the body you want to have, become the person you want to be, and live the life you want to live.
That's why I wrote this book.
It's my personal--and 100% practical and hands-on--blueprint for personal transformation, inside and outside of the gym, and it will provide you with new and valuable knowledge and skills that you will use for the rest of your life.
In short, I wrote this book to help you fix the biggest things that are holding you back from doing and achieving the things you care most about.
To do that, I share wisdom and insights from hundreds of scientific studies and scores of legendary artists, authors, entrepreneurs, philosophers, generals, and conquerors, as well as my own biggest "a ha" moments that are most responsible for where I am today.
Armed with the information you'll learn inside my new book, you're going to start living life with more energy, enthusiasm, and confidence.
You're going to develop a new paradigm for interacting with yourself and your environment.
And if you really take these lessons to heart, you might just enter a transformative period of your life and discover that you're capable of far more than you ever thought possible.
So, don't miss this golden opportunity to learn what most people will never know about forging a winning and successful mindset, skillset, and lifestyle.
Scroll up, buy this book today, and by the end of it, you will never again wonder what it takes to get and stay motivated to build the body and life of your dreams.
Change your body, change your life This is a no-bs, get to work, action oriented manual for success in fitness and in life. Mike Matthews surpasses expectations again with another timeless title full of best practices, insights and tools. Unlike many gurus in the fitness industry, Mike is a genuine guy who cares about helping people with their fitness, health and lives. In this book Mike explains that if you can change your body, you can change your life. Because the tools you learn in the kitchen and the gym are transferrable to many, many other areas of success. So sit down and give this book the time it deserves. Highlight everything that is interesting, take copious notes, and really study it. I promise you won't be disappointed.Motivating I have been having a lot of personal issues in my life happening all at once, including depression. It had been affecting my workout routine. I have trained for close to 3 years with a power lifter competitor, who is now a friends, and has taught me a lot, I have trained on my own, tried online trainers....the works. But it never stuck.I have recently lost all motivation in many avenues of my life. I had been going over ways I can try and get motivated again and it just so happened that this book showed up on amazon.I read the reviews and took a chance and bought it. I finished it within two days. Some of things he wrote I am guilty of doing (making excuses, finding ways to not do stuff, etc.). I almost wanted to crawl into a hole because I felt like I had been caught red-handed! I kept reading though because his writing was compelling, honest, and a very clear reflection of the things I have done to prevent myself from achieving things I have always visualized but never worked towards.Yes, it does make me a little emotional because aside from wanting to have a healthy body, and wanting to feel happy at what I see, it has also pushed me even more to seek help for my depression. The help is already in the works but reading this is helping me see a little clearer and is positive reinforcement for me mentally and emotionally. This is probably too deep for a book review but I don't care. He asked to review his book after reading it and this is my honest opinion. Now I just need to figure out if I should get Bigger, Leaner, Stronger, or the 1 Year Challenge. I am not sure which I should do first.Thank you Michael Matthews. If Arnold, Mark Manson, and Richard Feynman Wrote a Personal Development Book... This would be it Allow me to preface this review by saying that I've read a LOT of personal development and workout books. I'm the Director of Content for a major self help podcast and have (quite literally) listened to over 400+ expert interviews, read 500+ books, and read an incalculable number of articles on the topics Mike discusses throughout his book.So when I say that Mike BLEW me away with this book, you can rest assured that my endorsement actually carries some weight.Unlike many of the so-called "Gurus" and "Experts" Mike doesn't fill his book with pseudoscientific b.s. or hide behind his (admittedly impressive) credentials so that he can profit by feeding you regurgitated platitudes and vannila life advice.No...This book is chocked to the brim with the latest scientific evidence and research for getting the most out of yourself in the gym and in life.Mike is a masterful wordsmith who manages to beautifully weave together some of the more important concepts and ideas that you need to know to change your life in a way that is approachable, digestible, and immediately actionable. He's like the Breville Juicer Elite of the fitness world... The man knows how to take an important topic and squeeze everything out of it until you're left with only the purest and most nutritious parts. If you're struggling to get motivated, stay disciplined, and generally get your sh... stuff together, read this book.DO IT NAUW!
